Ilia Topuria Makes Bold Statements On JRE, Has He Said Too Much?

It seems like whenever Joe Rogan posts a podcast, it never goes without some form of controversy, and recently Ilia Topuria has made an appearance on JRE and UFC fans either hated it or loved it.
During the two hour long podcast the two talked about weightcutting struggles, wrestling being the best base for MMA, whats next for Paddy Pimblett, and more importantly they talked about who Ilia’s next opponent at Lightweight will be.
Ilia Topuria’s JRE ep has now hit just under 2.5M views on YouTube
In 3 days, it is now in the top 20 most viewed “JRE MMA Show” episodes
He has more views than eps with Sean O’Malley, Tyson Fury, Kamaru Usman, Sean Strickland, Belal Muhammad and Alex Volkanovski

Joe stated that he thinks the fight that needs to be made next is Ilia Topuria VS Ilsam Makhachev, and claimed that he has been talking to Dana White about it behind closed doors. But if we have learned anything, Joe doesn’t have that much authority over the UFC’s final decisions. Topuria has stated again and again that he wants to face Islam, but also during this podcast he has also stated that he is open to fighting Charles Oliveira as well.
It seems like Topuria wants to take on a big star to cement himself into the Lightwweight division, but this will be no easy task as Lightweight is most definitely the hardest division to succeed in. Even on a previous podcast Joe has stated that he would like to see Topuria get welcomed into the division by Oliveira, saying it would be an amazing fight.
Joe Rogan on Ilia Topuria vs. Lightweights:
"Oliveira is so tall, so dangerous everywhere—dangerous striking, huge reach advantage. Those [155ers] are real big. Islam is huge." 🔥 #UFC313

Hopefully the UFC will confirm a matchup soon for the highly skilled assassin Topuria, as he will definitely bring a show to the octagon at 155. But the question is, will he be big enough for the division, as Joe previously stated. This is one of those situations where we will have to wait and see if the move up will be an issue, but don’t be surprised if Ilia does very well at Lightweight, as he already has a champion’s mindset.
