Is He Back?

We all love a good comeback story, and Dominick Reyes’ KO during UFC 314 has certainly garnered the attention of many fans worldwide.

While the card was stacked with many fights, including Alexander Volkanovski VS Diego Lopes and Michael Chandler VS Paddy Pimblett, the best knockout on the card has to go to Reyes.

In the years 2020-2022 Reyes suffered 3 KO losses, which certainly was startling for fans as these types of consistent losses mirror that a fighter may have lost their touch. Some fans might take Tony Ferguson as an example of this, as he had gone on an eight fight losing streak before being removed from the UFC.

But now, in the years 2024-2025 Reyes has had 3 KO wins and is now ranked 8th in the Light Heavyweight division, which has some fans exited for what they are witnessing, a comeback for the previous title contender.

This is amazing to see and he has a lot more fans rooting for him now, supporting the journey to gold. And shortly after the event, there was a photo of Reyes’ yearbook quote posted online, solidifying exactly what his midset has been for many years.

Now, the reason why Reyes’ comeback has been so exiting is that he was once so great that he had shared the octagon for a title fight against the great Jon Jones. When watching back the fight, many fans say that Reyes was robbed and that Jones had been gifted the win because of the huge profit the UFC makes surrounding Jones’ undefeated record.

Personally I believe the UFC has been keeping Jones away from dangerous fights and that when he does fight a dangerous fighter, the judges are almost always giving the edge to Jones, as Dana White has stated time and time again that Jones is the greatest fighter of all time, leading fans to believe that even the UFC isn’t free from a little influence on who wins their fights.

In conclusion, Reyes is now on his way back up the Light Heavyweight rankings and could get his title shot if he can win 1-2 more fights. As long as Reyes’ can keep up the hard work in training and can persevere through another couple fights he may be able to silence the haters and claim UFC gold.
